This is my 100th post on Winds Howling.
I’ve started a bunch of blogs before, but I don’t think any of them have ever had 100 posts on them. I certainly got here faster than I thought I would; it happened pretty quickly after I had the right combination of the ideas and time and energy to support posting virtually every day. If that keeps up, we could hit post #200 by the end of the year, though I won’t make any promises.
Here are a few of my favorite posts so far:
- 09/05 — State of Lakeside Island 2026 — I’ve been visiting this island for a few years now and am satisfied to have frozen it in time.
- 08/22 — Tracking down the ‘I Voted’ sticker — a fun self-imposed side quest that led to a delightful human connection at the end.
- 07/12 — Grand opening of the Sterling Heights Athletic Hub — the making of this post generated a pleasant and memorable morning with a friend!
- 07/10 — Reading through the English monarchs: Year one — the culmination of a lot of reading; very satisfying to scroll through, personally.
So far, my top 3 most-posted tags are:
The biggest surprise, to me, is the music tag. I never expected to be blogging at all about music. The total is inflated by Haydn symphony reviews, but I’ve also written up a couple of concerts and started reviewing new music recently, so it’s becoming more of a mix.
I’ve spent a lot of time making music on an amateur level over the years, and even more time listening to it, but for a while now that’s been a largely dormant aspect of my personality, not something I would have devoted written energy to. It’s been a nice change over the past couple of months to listen to music more intentionally, with the aim of writing about it.
