emendation — an alteration designed to correct or improve. (learned 8/11 from “Henry I” by C. Warren Hollister)
disseise — to deprive, especially wrongfully, of seisin; dispossess. (learned 8/12 from “Henry I”)
—> seisin — the possession of land or chattels.
ASO — short for “anvil-shaped object”; a lower-quality cast iron anvil that is softer and prone to wear. (learned 8/15 from Mythbusters episode “Myths Redux”)
roundel — a round figure or object. (learned 8/16 from a Diamond Geezer post)
